Every New Primitive build is three layers, an envelope that faces the weather, an interior the body meets, and decking underfoot. Here’s the short list we work with, why we chose each, and how to specify them in the Configurator.

The face of the build. Charred Accoya is the default, chosen for fire resistance, dimensional stability, and the way char ages. ASH and Pine are the warm-modern and traditional alternates.

Slat detail
7/8" cedar slat with 1/2" reveal. Vertical grain catches the lighting and breathes with the heat cycles.

Hard-wax oil on ash. Matte, low-VOC, food-grade, the same finish we run on every interior floor.
Joint detail
Tongue & groove, hidden fixing, fastened through the substrate not the face. Nothing visible on the cladding line.
